Project DescriptionRoad surface at the roundabout, has required continuos attention over the course of many years due to the large amount of heavy traffic including, semi-trailers coming out of the port entrance, carrying loaded shipping containers. The trucks are pulling tri-axle trailers, excerting extreme pressure on the surrounding carraigeway encompassing the centrepiece of the roundabout, causing the surface to break up on a regular basis.
It is proposed to replace the existing sub base and base course with a heavily re-inforced 200mm layer of concrete, with a strength of 40mpa.This project would not commence until the next dry season next April/May, but because of shipping schedules, materials will have to be procured this month. |
