Project DescriptionUnsealed road which has to accommodate heavy traffic consisting of Cattle trucks and tourists (caravans). the constant damage to the road affects formation and drainage which has resulted in regular traffic incidents and complaints due to the condition of the road. this road is maintained twice a year by Etheridge Shire Council however due to its use requires additional maintenance that imposes on the Etheridge Shire Council funds. Briefly it will improve safety on this section of road.
the road is considered a major arterial road in the Shire. It connects Forsayth via a loop road through Ortona and other arterial roads of significance to two major State Roads which is the Kennedy Developmental Road and Georgetown to Einasleigh and the Lynd. It will minimize the risks of accidents experienced by tourist that travel through the Shire.
The work proposed is to form and stabilise 11.3 Km of North Head Rd using a polymer agent and bituminous seal 800 m of a "jump up" to provide adequate traction to all vehicles.
