Project Description

The project will upgrade approximately 7km of the Midland Highway from Eddington Road, Mangalore to the Pontville Roundabout at Brighton Road, Bagdad. The Project is expected to install flexible safety barriers, construct a new acceleration lane, widen existing shoulders and provide new turning facilities and local service roads.

Benefits

The project will achieve a minimum 3 Star AusRAP Safety Rating on this section of the Midland Highway. The project will improve safety, capacity and overtaking opportunities.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed up to $24,326,155 to this project with the Tasmanian Government to contribute the balance.

Timetable

Construction commence in February 2018 and be completed in early 2019.
