Project Description

The project will investigate options to duplicate and electrify the existing rail line and upgrade associated infrastructure from Frankston to Baxter. The project will also consider the location of stations and parking at the Frankston Public Hospital, Baxter and Leawarra, the location of new stabling facilities and level crossing upgrades.


The project will develop a business case that will help determine the economic, environmental and social costs and benefits of those options.


The Australian Government is fully funding this $4 million project.


The project commenced on 17 April 2018 and is expected to be completed in early 2019.
