Catastrophic failure caused by land slip. Underground stream saturating clay and making it unstable. This wet material then slipped across the rock base and the road above collapsed.
Excavate down to 7 metres depth to reach a stable base and remove poor quality clay material. Rebuild the formation with rock and install subsurface drainage structure. Construct pavement layer and bitumen seal.
Total cost of proposed project is $177,000
