Project DescriptionThe project involves the upgrade of 2.6km of the Bruce Highway between Kate Street (renamed Links Drive) and Aumuller Street from a 4-lane dual carriage way to a 6-lane dual carriage way, and additional works including upgrades through to Draper Street and Kenny Street. BenefitsThe project will deliver long-term improvements to traffic flow, freight delivery and road safety south of Cairns, through reducing urban congestion, reducing highway travel time and improving road access. FundingThe Australian Government has committed up to $99.0 million towards the project in partnership with the Queensland Government. TimetableConstruction commenced in mid 2018 and the project was completed in June 2021. |
