The project will involve construction of a carriageway and drainage structures with a higher flood immunity for 5 kilometres of highway.

The Australian Government has committed up to $18.4 million towards the project in partnership with the Queensland Government.
Planning is expected to commence in late 2021. Construction is due to commence in mid 2022 and be completed in early 2023, weather permitting.
