Stage 2 is expected to deliver the freight rail upgrades identified in Stage 1 from Shepparton to Tocumwal.
The project will help inform future investment decisions and improve the standard of the Shepparton Rail Line.
The estimated cost of the project is $10 million. The Australian Government is contributing $9 million and the Victorian Government $1 million under the $1.75 billion Victorian Regional Rail Revival Package.
Stage 1 commenced on 17 August 2018 and is expected to be completed in early 2019. The timing of Stage 2 will be determined by the planning undertaken in Stage 1.
