Traffic volumes along this segment of roadway have increased dramatically over the past few years and will only continue to increase upon completion of Calderwood Valley Subdivision.
The road contains significant nonconformities with the current Shellharbour City Council Subdivision Code and the driving surface has many pavement defects.
The road upgrade will comprise of Stages 1 & 2, with Stage 1 to be completed in 2018/19 and Stage 2 proposed to be part funded by Council, future Roads to Recovery Program and RMS Safer Roads Program.
Calderwood Road Upgrade Stage 1
- Sprayseal of Calderwood Rd from Cattle Road to Marshall Mount Road: driving surface has extensive pavement defects for full length. Work required to improve traffic safety until major upgrade by Lendlease in 10 years.
- Detailed Design of Calderwood Rd from Marshall Mount Road to Mellows Road: detailed design to upgrade road to a compliant state under Shellharbour City Council Subdivision Code.
- Implementation of Detailed Design: Intersection of Calderwood Rd/Mellows Rd to be upgraded according to detailed design.
