This project will upgrade the section of the Pacific Motorway between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill which may include widening the motorway from six to eight lanes, ramp consolidation, managed motorways technology, extending the busway to Springwood (Park-n-ride at Rochedale), allowing bus priority south of Springwood; and better active transport connectivity between centres.
It is expected this commitment will deliver the following benefits:
- additional lanes and other capacity improvements to reduce congestion
- shorter travel times for high volumes of freight, commuter, commercial, and tourist traffic
- potential busway extensions to improve public transport connectivity
- pavement reconstruction to support increased heavy freight volumes now and into the future
The Australian Government has committed $1 billion towards two projects along the Pacific Motorway - between Varsity Lakes and Tugun and between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill.
