Project DescriptionThe METRONET: Yanchep Rail Extension project will extend the existing Joondalup Line a further 14.5km between Butler and Yanchep, with new stations, bus interchanges and park and ride facilities at Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep. BenefitsIn the short-term, the Yanchep Extension Project will help develop activity centres by stimulating new employment opportunities in the Yanchep Strategic Metropolitan Centre and support higher density land use. In the long-term, the extension will help move more than 150,000 future Yanchep-Two Rocks residents. FundingThe Australian Government has committed $440 million towards the Yanchep Rail Extension. TimetableConstruction is underway for the Yanchep Rail Extension with completion of major construction and train service operations scheduled for late 2023.
