The METRONET - Morley-Ellenbrook Line project will add approximately a 21km spur line from the existing Midland Line just east of Bayswater Station to connect communities in Morley, Noranda, Malaga, Bennett Springs, Whiteman and Ellenbrook with six potential stations.
Integrated and effective public transport:
- ensure forecast population-driven increases in travel demand are met
Change travel behaviours and decrease private vehicle use:
- improving transport network resilience by providing alternative options
Improve housing diversity:
- support growth of vibrant urban centres through integrated transport and land use planning
Jobs and business opportunities:
- provide jobs during project delivery and encourage long term opportunities for new businesses to grow
The Australian Government has committed $500 million towards the $1 billion project.
The project is currently in the Preliminary Planning stages. In July 2018, work on the business case commenced and it is expected this will take two years to complete. Construction timeframes will be developed during this phase.
