Project Description

The Mackay Ring Road - Stage 2 project builds on the Mackay Ring Road - Stage 1 project by connecting the Bruce Highway at Glenella, north-west of Mackay, heading east to Harbour Road.

The Australian Government committed $397.9 million, in partnership with the Queensland Government, towards Mackay Ring Road - Stage 1 project, which involves the construction of a two lane, 11.3 kilometre, limited access rural highway style deviation from the Bruce Highway at Stockroute Road to Ball Hill Road.

This project will enhance capacity, safety and accessibility of the network in Mackay.  It will also improve freight efficiency by reducing travel time for bypassing traffic.

The Australian Government has committed up to $280 million towards the project in partnership with the Queensland Government.

The delivery schedule will be determined in consultation with the Queensland Government.
