Project DescriptionAbernethy Road, between Avonside Crescent and Adelaide Street in High Wycombe, is experiencing growth in congestion, particularly during peak periods. The northern section of the road serves as an important freight route from the Great Eastern Highway Bypass to the industrial areas adjacent to the Perth Airport Estate.
The road is currently constrained by various single lane sections creating congestion issues resulting in travel time delays for passenger and freight vehicles. The upgrade of this 3km stretch of Abernethy Road to dual carriageway will assist in meeting future population growth and the growth of heavy vehicles servicing the industrial areas. BenefitsThe project will:
- improve accessibility, connectivity and travel times
- improve freight productivity and road safety
FundingThe Australian Government has committed $13.25 million towards the project. TimetableThe project is in planning. |
