There is currently limited freight access to the industrial areas of Hazelmere and Midlands. This has resulted in increased congestion on the roads surrounding these precincts and nearby residential areas.
The project will extend Lloyd Street to directly link Midland and the St John of God Hospital with the industrial areas of Hazelmere, Forrestfield, Kewdale and Perth Airport, which will also connect with the recently announced Abernethy Road / Great Eastern Highway Bypass Interchange.
The project will:
- improve freight efficiency, connectivity and travel time
- expand road capacity which will reduce congestion
The Australian Government has committed $20 million towards the project.
The project is in planning.
