Project Description

The project will include installation of overtaking lanes and shoulder sealing at various locations, including between Clare and Auburn and south of Giles Corner. The project will also introduce improvements to the Gladstone level crossing by extending the rail loop serving the Gladstone silo site and the replacement of a bridge and a culvert north of Melrose.


The project will improve safety for all road users and improve connectivity to regional roads and our freight networks.


The Australian Government is funding on an 80:20 ratio in conjunction with the SA Government.


Construction commenced in early 2021 and is expected to be completed by late 2023.
