Project Description

This project will upgrade the Hann Highway, located along the Kennedy Developmental Road.

Benefits

This project will improve productivity, resilience and safety on the Hann Highway. Other benefits include:

• improved travel reliability by increasing flood immunity throughout the corridor
• improved reliability and efficiency of freight movements, and
• reduced whole-of-life asset management costs by sealing unsealed sections that incur regular damage due to wet season effects.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $270 million towards the Tennant Creek to Townsville Corridor, of which $200 million has been committed to Queensland ($40 million to this project) and $70 million to the Northern Territory.

Timetable

The delivery schedule will be determined as planning on the project progresses and in consultation with the Queensland Government.
