This project will construct a heavy vehicle bypass at Biloela to divert traffic away from the residential and commercial centre of Biloela to improve safety, travel times and access for all road users. The project consists of ten smaller upgrades along the heavy vehicle bypass route, including road widening and bitumen and asphalt resealing.
This project will deliver the following key benefits:
- Improved travel times and access for heavy vehicles
- Reduced interaction between heavy vehicles and vulnerable road users
- Decreased traffic in the Biloela commercial district
The Australian Government has committed $2.1 million to this project.
The project commenced construction in January 2021, with completion expected in late 2022.
