Project DescriptionUpgrade roads infrastructure on and around the Northern Territory section of the Tennant Creek to Townsville corridor, such as the Barkly Highway. BenefitsThis project will improve:
- connectivity between people with jobs and services, and goods with markets
- road safety
- freight efficiency, connectivity and travel time
- economic productivity
- flood immunity on a key route in the region
FundingThe Australian Government has committed $270 million towards the Tennant Creek to Townsville Corridor, of which $200 million has been committed to Queensland and $70 million to the Northern Territory. TimetableConstruction commenced in early 2020. Upgrades will continue on a rolling basis. |
