Project Description

Seal approximately 11 kilometres of the Tanami Road from chainage 261km to the community of Yuendumu.


  • Improved connectivity between people with jobs and services, and goods with markets.
  • Improved road safety.
  • Improved freight efficiency, connectivity and travel time.
  • Improved economic productivity.
  • Improved flood immunity.


The Australian Government has committed $6.9 million to this project. The project is funded under the Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative (Northern Territory section of the Alice Springs to Halls Creek Corridor).


Construction started in November 2020 and was completed in July 2021.
