This project includes the installation of road safety imporvements along Thompson Road, including upgrades to the intersection of Darebin Road and Thompson Road, improvements to pedestrian facilities, formalisation of the corridor as a two-lane two-way road, and planning work to identify further road safety improvements.
This project is expected to improve the safety of the entire corridor, providing significant amenity for all local road users, as well as reducing congestion.
The Australian Government is contributing $3.7 million and the Victorian Government is contributing $0.9 million.
Early works commenced in June 2021, with construction expected to be completed by early 2022.
