Project Description

The project includes the upgrading and sealing of Tanami Road, which connects Great Northern Highway at Halls Creek, and Stuart Highway near Alice Springs.


Benefits include:

  • Improved road safety for all road users.
  • Improved accessibility and connectivity of road networks.
  • Improved freight productivity


The Australian Government has committed $34.2 million towards the $42.8 million project.


This project is expected to start in early 2022 and be finished by mid 2024.
