Project Description

The West Tamar Highway runs from Launceston to Greens Beach in the far north east of Tasmania. This project will deliver targeted upgrades between Exeter and Launceston to make this section of the West Tamar Highway safer and more efficient.


Benefits include:

  • Improved road safety for all road users.
  • Reduced congestion and improved travel
  • times.
  • Improved efficiency and network reliability.


The Australian Government has committed $16 million towards the project.


Construction is expected to commence late 2023 and be completed by mid 2027.
