The Townsville to Roma Corridor is a key economic freight route that supports major industries including mining, agriculture and tourism.
The Townsville to Roma Corridor Upgrade is delivering targeted upgrades to the Gregory, Dawson and Carnarvon highways, and surrounding roads including the Dawson Developmental Road between Springsure and Tambo.
The Project will deliver works along the Gregory Developmental Road north of Charters Towers (on the Charters Towers - The Lynd section). Works will include widening of at least 4.6 kilometres of the existing narrow seal to 8 metres, pavement rehabilitation and replacement or strengthening of ageing culverts.
The project will ensure efficiency on key freight routes, provide a more reliable and safer road network, improve access for high capacity vehicles and improve economic opportunities.
The Australian Government will contribute up to $12.24 million to the project, in partnership with the Queensland Government.
The Project is currently in planning and is scheduled to commence construction in mid-2022 and complete in mid-2023, weather depending.
