Project Description

This project will enhance freight efficiency, safety and connectivity on the Bass Highway between Launceston and Devonport, in northern Tasmania. This may involve safety works such as installing flexible barriers, widening shoulders, removing roadside hazards, intersection upgrades, realigning tight curves, and providing additional overtaking lanes and rest areas. These works will complement existing projects on the Bass Highway.

Australian Government funding: $80.0 million 

Tasmanian Government contribution: $20.0 million


This project is expected to start construction in early 2025 and be finished construction by late 2029.
