A key commitment of the Western Sydney City Deal, the Australian Government and NSW Government are partnering to jointly fund and deliver the Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport rail to Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport for its opening in 2026. The total project cost will be around $11 billion.
The Australian Government contribution includes:
- $60 million towards the Western Sydney North South Rail Link and Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport joint business case.
- $5.19 billion towards the delivery of Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport. This is inclusive of the $61 million to construct the Elizabeth Drive Overpass, an essential piece of road infrastructure to enable metro rail access to the airport site.
