Enoggera Road, Alderley - 116315-21QLD-RTR
The intersections of Enoggera Road and Moran Street and Lloyd Street are identified as a location for an upgrade to improve safety access. The project will replace the signage priority-controlled intersection of Enoggera Road and Moran Street with traffic signals including pedestrian facilities. In conjunction with the proposed traffic signals at Enoggera Road and Moran Street, the priority-controlled intersection with Lloyd Street will be modified to become left-in/left-out only. Enoggera Road is an Arterial road under the draft road hierarchy, providing a north-south connection between the northern suburbs and Brisbane CBD carrying approximately 52,000 vehicles per day. Moran Street is a neighbourhood road forming a T-intersection with Enoggera Road and provides the predominant access to the residential east of Enoggera Road and Sedley Park. Lloyd Street is a neighbourhood road forming a T-intersection with Enoggera Road and provides access to residential areas west of Enoggera Road. Currently traffic improvements are constrained with movements into and out of Moran Street and Lloyd Street restrained by high traffic volumes along Enoggera Road, combined with poor visibility out of the side streets. Thirteen crashes have occurred at the intersection within the last five years. The crashes have predominantly been angle crashes occurring in the peak period. Additionally the high traffic volumes on Enoggera Road prevents pedestrian crossing to access bus stops and shops.Installing traffic signals at the intersection of Enoggera Road and Moran Street with signalised pedestrian crossings, extending the centre median south to prevent right turns in/out of Llyod Street, upgrade pedestrian facilities through footpath improvements and kerb ramps.Total cost of proposed project is $3,982,921

Sections of the road require improvements to the roadside drainage, with the floodways needing urgent attention, also the existing pavement is thin, potholed and corrugated. The planned improvements to the running surface, floodways and drainage are needed to provide a safer all weather road for this bus route.Reconstruct the floodways and roadside drainage and then gravel re-sheet 5.7 kilometers to 7.5 meters wide and apply a polymer binder to to increase pavement life. This result in a finished pavement depth of 250mm.
