Kelvin Grove Road, Kelvin Grove - 117464-21QLD-RTR
The Kelvin Grove Road and Blamey Street intersection has been identified as a location requiring upgrade to improve traffic flow efficiency for all road users, reduce congestion, and enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists. During the afternoon peak, the intersection of Kelvin Grove Rand and Blamey Street is operating over capacity, resulting in long queues on Kelvin Grove Road. The high volume of traffic on Kelvin Grove Road and current lane configuration on Blamey Street makes it difficult for the intersection to clear. The project will upgrade the intersection of Kelvin Grove Road and Blamey Street by increasing the length of the dual lanes along Blamey Street (eastbound) resulting in an increase in right turn movements from Kelvin Grove Road to Blamey Street, improving travel time reliability for motorists. The project will also involve widening the footpath on the southern side of Blamey Street to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists and re-alignment of the pedestrian crossing and pram ramps at Kelvin Grove Road northern approach to improve safety and sight distanceTotal cost of proposed project is $2,860,018
