Toowoomba to Seymour - Victoria

The Toowoomba to Seymour corridor, including the Goulburn Valley Highway, is a critical link in Australia’s freight transport network. It contributes to the competitiveness of Australia’s agricultural and mining sectors by opening up access to essential freight networks in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. This investment will support growing agricultural and tourist industries in the region by providing improved access for High Productivity Freight Vehicles and improving the safety and efficiency of the road network. Works in Tranche 1 will include: Safety barriers between Seymour and Shepparton - This project will install 175km of flexible safety barriers on the Goulburn Valley Highway between Seymour and Shepparton. Scoping and development - This project will involve scoping work to develop a prioritised program of works for future tranches.

Stawell to South Australian Border

The Western Highway forms part of the Melbourne to Adelaide freight route and is a vital link in the freight flow between eastern and central Australia. It provides connectivity with other key freight routes throughout Victoria including the Midland, Sunraysia, Pyrenees, Henty and Wimmera Highways. This investment will support growing agricultural and tourist industries in the region by providing improved access for High Productivity Freight Vehicles and improving the safety and efficiency of the road network. Works in Tranche 1 include: - Horsham Junction Upgrade - The Australian Government is committing $4 million towards construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Henty Highway / Western Highway / Golf Course Road. - Nhill-Jeparit Road Intersection Upgrade - The Australian Government has committed $1.5 million towards realignment of the Western Highway at the intersection with Nhill-Jeparit Road to increase the distance between the highway and nearby railway line. - Seaby Street Intersection Upgrade - The Australian Government is committing $3.1 million towards signalisation of the intersection of the Western Highway and Seaby Street in Stawell. - Scoping and Development - The Australian Government is committing $5.2 million towards scoping and development works to inform works in future tranches.

Melbourne to Mildura

This investment will deliver targeted upgrades on the Calder Highway/Freeway corridor between Melbourne and Mildura. These upgrades are expected to address identified pinch points in the corridor to improve throughput. They are also expected to increase access for higher productivity freight vehicles, leading to an overall increase in the efficiency and safety of the corridor for all road users. Upgrades to this corridor are also expected to support local industry and the creation of local jobs. Works in Tranche 1 include: - Baileys Road Intersection Upgrade, Sea Lake - The Australian Government has committed $3 million towards the upgrade of the intersection of the Calder Highway with Baileys Road at Lake Tyrrell, near Sea Lake. - Overtaking Lanes - The Australian Government has committed $12.4 million towards the construction of three new overtaking lanes on the Calder Highway, north and southbound lanes between Marong and Bridgewater, and a southbound lane south of Hattah. - Widecentreline treatment between Sunraysia Highway and Red Cliffs - The Australian Government has committed $2.7 million towards delivery of a wide centerline treatment to remaining sections of the Calder Highway between the Sunraysia Highway and Red Cliffs. - Development and preconstruction - The Australian Government has committed $4.3 million towards scoping and development works to inform a future program of works for the Melbourne to Mildura corridor.
