2026-27 Budget

Through the 2026–27 Budget, the Australian Government is continuing to invest in priority land transport projects that support productivity, resilience, liveability and sustainability through the Infrastructure Investment Program.

Australian Privacy Principle 5 Notice

Your submission, including any personal information supplied, is being collected by the department for the purpose of seeking public and industry comment on the approach and content of its proposed cost estimation guidance, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act).

Your personal information will be stored securely by the department. It may be used by the department to make further contact with you about the consultation process. Your personal information will not be disclosed to any other third parties, except in the circumstances outlined below.

Submissions, in part or full, including the name of the author may be published on the department's website or in the Government's response, unless the submission is confidential. Confidential submissions (including author name) will not be published. Private addresses and contact details will not be published or disclosed to any third parties unless required by law.

Submissions will only be treated as confidential if they are expressly stated to be confidential. Automatically generated confidentiality statements or disclaimers appended to an email do not suffice for this purpose. If you wish you make a confidential submission, you should indicate this by ensuring your submission is marked confidential.

Confidential submissions will be kept securely and will only be disclosed in the following circumstances:

  • in response to a request by a Commonwealth Minister;
  • where required by a House or a Committee of the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia; or where required by law.

The department may also disclose confidential submissions within the Commonwealth of Australia, including with other Commonwealth agencies, where necessary in the public interest.

Please note that in order to protect the personal privacy of individuals in accordance with the Privacy Act any submissions containing sensitive information, personal information or information which may reasonably be used to identify a person or group of people may not be published, even if not marked as confidential.

Kennedy Highway - Barron River Bridge
The project will replace the existing bridge over the Barron River located on the Kennedy Highway near Kuranda.
Melbourne Northern Suburbs Rail Upgrades – Planning
The Melbourne Northern Suburbs Rail Upgrades – Planning project will deliver a business case to develop and prioritise options for upgrades to Melbourne’s northern metropolitan railway lines. This builds on the Victorian Government’s earlier work undertaken through the Northern Rail Plan project.
Melbourne Western Suburbs Rail Upgrades – Planning
The Melbourne Western Suburbs Rail Upgrades - Planning project will deliver a business case to develop and prioritise options for upgrades to Melbourne’s western metropolitan railway lines. This builds on the Victorian Government’s earlier work undertaken through the Western Rail Plan – Further Planning project.
Melton Line Upgrade
The Melton Line Upgrade project will deliver additional platforms at Melton Station and lengthen platforms at Cobblebank, Rockbank, Caroline Springs and Deer Park stations to enable longer nine-car VLocity trains to run on the Melton line. To facilitate the upgrades, a new stabling facility will be constructed at Cobblebank.
Murray Basin Freight Rail Project
The project involves the standardisation and upgrade of the Mildura rail line (currently broad gauge) in western Victoria.
Middle Camp Road, Maningrida - 053584-14NT-RTR
Edge breaks, numerous pot holes and patches and poor road side drainage.Cement stabilize edge repairs, remove and refill poorly laid patches, construct road side drains and reseal.
Werribee Main Road - Princes Freeway Interchange Upgrade
This project will deliver a new roundabout at the Princes Freeway exit ramp onto Wests Road and new signalised intersections at the Princes Freeway entry ramp from Werribee Main Road, the intersection of William Thwaites Drive and Werribee Main Road, and Ison Road and Werribee Main Road. It will also deliver an additional lane on the Werribee Main Road bridge across the Princes Freeway.
Road Blitz
This project will create a new package of works to increase capacity and improve efficiency in Melbourne’s suburbs and surrounds. Story Bridge Renewal Business Case
The project will determine the scope of works required for the restoration, costings and future maintenance of Story Bridge.
Sunshine Station Upgrades
The Sunshine Station Upgrades project will deliver additional platforms and a dedicated spur line at Sunshine Station, which is required to deliver the rail line to Melbourne Airport, while also delivering track, bridge and signalling improvements to unlock capacity for future upgrades in Melbourne’s west and north.
