About the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP)

The SLRIP commenced on 1 July 2024 to provide funding for projects to address current and emerging priorities in road infrastructure needs. Funding of at least $200 million per year will be available under the program. More information on the program is available on the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program web page.

Administrative arrangements for the Bridges Renewal Program (BRP) and Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program (HVSPP)

The SLRIP consolidates the BRP and HVSPP into a single program. Existing BRP and HVSPP projects will be delivered in accordance with the guidelines and funding agreement under which they were approved. To streamline reporting processes, BRP and HVSPP projects will move to quarterly reporting as outlined in the SLRIP Guidelines.

For more information on the administrative arrangements, please refer to the factsheet in the Resources section below.

About the Heavy Vehicle Rest Area (HVRA) initiative

The HVRA supports the construction of new and upgraded heavy vehicle rest areas. From 1 July 2024, the HVRA will sit under the SLRIP with its own separate focus area.

How to apply for the SLRIP
