Wooranbarra Corrong Rd (Rural Road) - 135490-25NSW-RTR
The project involved raising and re-sheeting the existing road formation using imported natural soil material. The road level was increased by approximately 300 mm to 450 mm along a total length of 5.3 kilometres, based on site conditions and required flood immunity levels. These works were undertaken to address ongoing issues where the road surface was frequently inundated during minor flood events, resulting in reduced accessibility, safety concerns, and increased maintenance requirements. By raising the road formation and re-establishing the road surface, the likelihood of water overtopping the road during minor flooding has been significantly reduced. As a result, the upgraded road now provides improved all-weather access, enhanced safety for road users, and greater resilience against future flood events, while also reducing long-term maintenance costs.
Chillichil Road (Rural Road) - 135494-25NSW-RTR
The project comprised maintenance grading and re-sheeting of the existing road surface with a 200 mm thick layer of gravel. The works involved reshaping the road profile to restore correct camber and drainage, followed by the placement and compaction of suitable gravel material to reinstate the running surface. These maintenance activities were undertaken to address surface deterioration caused by traffic loading and weather impacts, including corrugations, potholes, and surface deformation. The application of a new gravel layer has improved surface stability, ride quality, and drainage performance. Upon completion, the road now provides a safer and more reliable driving surface, improved resistance to further degradation, and reduced ongoing maintenance requirements.
