Balumbah-Kinnard Road (Rural Road) - 056234-15SA-RTR
This road is unsealed and is a safety concern during harvest, due to dust from the increase of heavy vehicle transport on the road and sections of this road are also a school bus route. The dust is also an environmental concern as the native vegetation in proximity to the road suffers due to the dust. This road is the main route used by heavy transports moving grain from farms to silos. This road is classed as a primary collector road and is gazetted as an A and B Double commodity route and HML Route. Parts of this road are gazzetted for HML General Frieght.Works proposed include construction and sealing to 11.5 kilometres of the Balumbah-Kinnard Road, culvert installation, adjustments to the vertical and horizontal alignment of the road. There will be an 11 metre constructed pavement with an 8metre 2 coat seal. There will be widening of the road at junctions in order to comply with transport requirements for heavy vehicles as per DPTI route assessment guidelines.Total cost of proposed project is $9,000,000
Wallcliffe Road, Margaret River - 056235-15WA-RTR
The current road profile is uneven leading to water ponding on running lanes during rain events. The intersection of Wallcliffe Road and Station Road requires upgrading due to increased traffic volumes and the road surface is in a degraded state, it has multiple cracks.Reconstruction of the road pavement to eliminate ponding issues and upgrading of the intersection with Station Road. A full width asphalt overlay and new line marking.Total cost of proposed project is $365,886
Caroona Road (Rural Road) - 056236-15SA-RTR
The current road is currently of an extreme poor standard with a rough driving surface including significant pavement shape failures. The existing 6m road width is too narrow and unsafe for the type and number of vehicles using the road, including road trains, B-Double and heavy army vehicles. The project seeks to provide a safe and effective transport route to cater for increasing traffic by various vehicle types, and to provide a higher standard of safety and access from the National Highway 1.The work proposed includes 1.4 kms of Caroona Road to be widened by a seal width of 1m either side of the existing seal and the whole width (8m) covered in 50mm of asphalt to also help with shape correction of the existing seal. The design pavement thickness of the new widened roadway will be 200mm and the shoulder will be designed with a 100mm pavement thickness. Principle works include road widening, adding road shoulders and providing an upgraded roadway surface.Total cost of proposed project is $1,869,000
