Chatsworth Rd, Boundary Rd and Samuel St, Camp Hill - 101655-19QLD-RTR
Boundary Road connects Old Cleveland Road in the north to Cavendish Road and Logan Road in the south. Chatsworth Road provides a link to Greenslopes in the west, while Samuel Street provides a link to Carindale, which is a major retail hub to the eastern suburbs (Westfield Carindale shopping centre). The intersection is considered a significant east-west link between Creek Road and Logan Road as well as a significant north-south link between Old Cleveland Road, Cavendish Road and Marshall Roads, which all provide key access to the Pacific Motorway (M1). Traffic data from 2017 shows approximately 31,000 vehicles per day travel through this intersection. There were a total of 33 crashes at the intersection between August 2008 and July 2018. Analysis of available crash records indicate the majority of crashes at this intersection involved motorists turning right from Chatsworth Road and Samuel Street colliding with oncoming traffic. The existing filtered right-turn arrangement will be replaced by controlled right-turns from Chatsworth Road and Samuel Street approaches to the intersection and an additional westbound through lane on Chatsworth Road and Samuel street. The project involves: • providing a dedicated right-turn lane on Chatsworth Road into Boundary Road. • installing a fully controlled right-turn facility with arrows on both Chatsworth Road and Samuel Street. • widening Chatsworth Road and Samuel Street to allow for an additional through lane in the westbound direction. • modifying the uncontrolled left-turn slip lane on Samuel Street, to a controlled left-turn lane with a signalised pedestrian crossing. • improving pedestrian crossing facilities with safe signal phasing.Total cost of proposed project is $9,456,221
