The Bucketts Way, Twelve Mile Creek - 131196-24NSW-RTR
The Bucketts Way (MR90) is the main access road to the Mid Coast LGA from the Pacific Highway at Twelve Mile Creek. The road is a two way two lane road with a speed limit of 90 km/hr. Port Stephens LGA covers approximately the first 5 km only. This road has many run off road into tree crashes over an extended period of time. The speed limit has been reduced and several sections have been upgraded (reconstruction and shoulder construction) however works are still required to meet standards. The road is narrow with limited shoulder width and protection from roadside hazards. The community along Bucketts Way continue to raise safety concerns and highlight the need for road upgrades.4 sections of work have been proposed. Pavement widening and guardrail installation over 2 sections totalling 1670 m. Shoulder widening and guardrail installation for 320 m. Shoulder widening, culvert widening and guardrail installation over 132 m. This project contains multiple sources of funding: State Safer roads grant of $3,434,622, State regional roads funds $909,324, Council funds $98,344.Total cost of proposed project is $4,682,748
Port Douglas Road, Port Douglas - 131023-24QLD-RTR
The proposed project aims to enhance the safety of vulnerable road users by upgrading infrastructure to align with the Safe System Approach. The improvements will create a wider, more accessible route with better alignments and improved sight distances, safely separated from traffic hazards. This will encourage pedestrians, cyclists, and scooter users to utilise the path rather than the road shoulder, significantly reducing the risk of vulnerable road user crashes. The project targets a Priority A route on the Principal Cycle Network, which sees high volumes of pedestrian traffic, cyclists, and scooter users due to limited public transport options and the area's significant tourism and local traffic. The full project will upgrade 2.1km of existing pathway along Port Douglas Road to a 2.5-3m wide shared path. The project includes; - Demolition of the existing footpath, - Protection and modification of some PUP, - Construction of 2.5-3m wide shared path from Lakeland Avenue to Old Port Road, - Drainage provisions, - Upgrade of local road crossings (including Lakeland Avenue, St Crispins Avenue and Bale Drive), - Pavement marking, and - Signage. Project is jointly funded as follows: - 50% Active Transport Fund - 25% Council contribution - 25% R2R funding
