Paradise Road, Pallara/Larapinta - 052960-14QLD-RTR
The 2.2km section of Paradise Road (between approximately 300m north of Radius Drive and 800m south of Brookbent Road) has a poor level of service and exhibits serious safety issues. The narrow road is hazardous with substandard curves, and has a high proportion of heavy commercial traffic. The pavement is in poor condition due to regular flooding and the high groundwater level. There is a high recorded crash rate between June 2009 and August 2011 including one fatality, five hospitalisations, nine requiring medical treatment and two with property damage only. Nine of these crashes involved heavy vehicles overturning.Realigning the sub-standard horizontal curves and raising the road, nominally, to improve drainage with no adverse flooding impacts to adjacent properties. This will also include service relocations.Total cost of proposed project is $14,612,205
