The Australian Government is committed to a 10-year, over $120 billion infrastructure investment pipeline, ensuring a rolling program of sustainable land transport infrastructure projects.

Australian Privacy Principle 5 Notice

Your submission, including any personal information supplied, is being collected by the department for the purpose of seeking public and industry comment on the approach and content of its proposed cost estimation guidance, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act).

Submissions, in part or full, including the name of the author may be published on the department's website or in the Government's response, unless the submission is confidential. Confidential submissions (including author name) will not be published. Private addresses and contact details will not be published or disclosed to any third parties unless required by law.

Submissions will only be treated as confidential if they are expressly stated to be confidential. Automatically generated confidentiality statements or disclaimers appended to an email do not suffice for this purpose. Confidential submissions will be kept securely and will only be disclosed in the following circumstances:

  • in response to a request by a Commonwealth Minister;

Corridor Packages
As at the 2025-26 Budget, the Australian Government has 37 Corridor Packages under the Infrastructure Investment Program. Corridor Packages consist of projects across Australia along land transport corridors and/or projects in close geographical proximity to enable more effective management of a large volume of projects.

Stebonheath Road, Smithfield Plains - 125096-23SA-RTR
The current road geometry is very poor with no formal footpaths, kerb, parking bays, lighting, bicycle lane and visual amenities. As a major collector road within a urban environment, it is desirable for Stebonheath Road to possess key “Major Collector Road” characteristics that typically consists of footpaths, sheltered right turn lanes, indented parking bays and bus bays, bicycle lanes and appropriate lighting to encourage all modes of transport. Stebonheath Road has for some time been subject to requests from the community for footpaths and cycling facilities/network.Change the road condition and environment from rural to urban by constructing Stebonheath Road to a major collector road function and geometry to accommodate all modes of transport. The scope of works include: 3.1 to 3.3 m traffic lane (each way); 1.2 to 1.5 m bicycle lane; Parking bay of 2.1 m minimum; Footpath 1.50m minimum on both sides; Indented bus bays at existing bus stop location (location may shift and vary); Roundabout treatment (mountable types) at the intersection with Chellaston Road, Peerless Road, Brandis Road and Fradd East Road; Installation of standard road lighting along the corridor.Total cost of proposed project is $12,449,534

This section of road was widened and reconstructed several years ago and requires cement stabilising and a two coat bitumen surface.To cement stabilise from straight line kilometre 17.04 to 19.52 20 a depth of 250mm using 2% cement and apply a two coat bitumen surface.

Pavement surface is reaching the end of its life evidenced by severe stripping and oxidation.30mm resheeting entire road from gutter to gutter.
