The current road is unsealed and unsafe for heavy vehicle use.The existing unsealed road will be widened to ten metres and sealed to seven metres wide with a two coat seal. Work for 2014-15 includes engineering design works, and construction of 1kilometre of sealed road located from 1 kilometre north of the intersection of Ardrossan Road and Clinton Road for a futher 1 kilometre, ending 2 kilometres north of the intersection of Ardrossan Road and Clinton Road.Total cost of proposed project is $4,795,000
Somerset Street, East Victoria Park - 096706-17WA-RTR
Issues with high level of parking in area and high traffic speeds on a very wide road. Difficult for pedestrians to cross road. The project involves the road being resurfaced to improve its life. At the same time, a central median will be installed to significantly reduce traffic lanes in width thereby reducing traffic speeds. Line marking will also be installed to provide a buffer zone next to on-street parking - this should reduce vehicle/vehicle and vehicle/cycle conflict when moving in-out of parking bays as there is high turnover for the adjacent leisure facility and TAFE. The median will also provide a safer location for pedestrains to wait when crossing the road.Total cost of proposed project is $257,202
