Project description
This project involved the duplication of approximately seven kilometres of the Bruce Highway from Vantassel Street to Cluden, south of Townsville, to four lanes and construction of a new high level bridge over Stuart Creek Bridge.
Benefits
The project will assist in reducing congestion, improve safety and flood immunity, and provide improved access to industrial and residential developments to the south of Townsville.
Funding
The Australian Government committed up to $122.8 million towards the project, in partnership with the Queensland Government.
Timetable
The project commenced construction in October 2013 and was completed in July 2015.
