Project description

The pavement has potholes and shoving. This is due to the high traffic volume at the intersection. There is also a problem with a significant drop in level with lateral and longitudinal cracking as a result of failure of the subgrade material. This has left the road surface uneven and prone to further damage.

A polymer modified bitumen layer will be applied over the potholed area followed by a layer of asphalt. This should improve flexibility in the pavement while increasing the depth and strength. There will also be repairs involving removing the failed surface, compacting the sub base, placing high quality base material, grading and compacting, followed by a thick layer of asphalt.
