Project description

Currently McKimmies Road is a rural road type construction in the urban area of Mill Park. The proposed works will upgrade the road to fit better with the surrounding residential development. It will also improve traffic flows at the roundabouts situated at each end of the proposed works.

Proposal is to "urbanise" the road by providing concrete kerb and channel including underground drainage. Design will also incorporate on-road bicycle lanes.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,300,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
