Project description

The road pavement, surface and kerb & channel have deteriorated over the years and need to be reconstructed. Also there are some issues with the condition of drainage pits and pipes that are to be renewed.

The work involves reconstruction of kerb & channel and road pavement, providing 25mm asphalt surfacing and installation of new underground drainas along the street. Length of the road is 466m and the width is 6.6m

Total cost of proposed project is $470,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
