Project description

This is a long stretch of road on which speeding by young and older drivers ocurrs. There is the potential for either a vehicle or vehicle / pedestrian accident to ocurr. The installation of traffic calming devices will reduce, if not eliminate speeding on Ambrose Street.

The installation of a 9 metre diameter round'a'bout will ensure the reduction of speed on Ambrose Street. The round'a'bout will also ease traffic flow into Ambrose Street from Pinnacles Street.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
