Project description

The gravel on this road is seriously deficient as it has been weathered and/or depleted through high usage and lack of maintenance.Ways Road has been the subject of a five year gravel sheeting program and this section is the final stage of completion.

Council propose to prune trees to improve sight distances,clear out blocked culverts and gravel sheet 100mm thick by 10m wide to reinstate this section of road back to original condition.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
