Project description

Existing road is unsealed, rough, has poor drainage and high maintenance costs.

The proposal is to construct the road for its first 100 metres and with a width of 5.5 metres, the whole length of the public road. The work includes table drains, widening and strengthening the road, together with a sealed surface. The adjoining owners may extend this work at their cost along their shared right of carriageway (private road) that connects to the end of this public road.

Total cost of proposed project is $23,713

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
