Project description

Inspections have revealed significant deterioration of the road pavement, edges of seal constantly breaking away, increasing numbers of potholes, resulting in a reduced service level and high risk, despite prolonged attempts at maintenance patching.

Reconstruct and seal the 2km of road. Works include reshaping of the existing pavement & placement of additional conforming materials. Drainage works as required. Bituminous Sealing 7mm primerseal.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
