Project description

Road is very potholed and has lost its shape. Severe wheel rutting, holding water upon pavement. Rectification to cross-fall of road pavement, minor widening on bends.

Road will be reconstructed with new road base material and reshaped. Works will also include upgrade and install new drainage culverts. new 2-coat bitumen seal surface. General Line Marking, Signage/Guide Posts and raised reflective pavement markers to aid user safety.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
