Project description

Existing road is rough with areas of the road base failing. It also has below grade kerb gutter and drainage (with grassed bank) within part of the road reserve for part of its length.

The works will include widening and strengthening the road for a length of 600 metres and a width of 11 metres and also drainage works to bring the kerb and gutter and stormwater pit up to the road grade.

Total cost of proposed project is $632,801

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
