Project description

The timber culverts have deteriorated and are at risk of collapsing.

Replacing timber culverts with four cell (4/ 1200 mm width x 600 mm height) crown units at each location, gravel pavement on top & approaches and two coats of bitumen sealing. Replacing the old timber culvert with new concrete culverts would be the suitable option rather than repairing the timber culvert as it passed its design life and the culvert is deteriorated.

Total cost of proposed project is $114,618

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
