Project description

The project will upgrade 210km of the main access road from the Stuart Highway to Pukatja and improvements to 21km of community roads. This includes an additional 31km of sealing from Umuwa to Kaltijiti and an upgrade of 24km along Gunbarrel Highway to improve flood immunity.

Benefits

The project will provide community and emergency management access, better food supply reliability, and access to employment and economic opportunities.

Funding

The Australian Government is funding on an 80:20 ratio in conjunction with the SA Government.

Timetable

Construction commenced in mid 2016 and is expected to be completed by late 2024.
